Deadlock is the eighth book in the H.I.V.E. series.

Synopsis

Otto and Raven are desperate to rescue their friends from the clutches of Anastasia Furan, head of the evil Disciples deadlock. First they must track down the location of the Glasshouse, the prison where Furan trains children to become ruthless assassins.

But Otto is also being hunted. The past three months that Otto has spent away from H.I.V.E. have given the Artemis Section an opportunity to locate him. The Artemis Section is an elite division of the American intelligence services that specialises in capturing the toughest targets. They report only to the President

Summary

The book starts with a prologue which takes place over a decade before the main series.  Raven has been sent on a mission by Anastasia Furan to kill Nero who is with Diabolus Darkdoom. Raven is injured during this process, having failed to kill the two supervillains, Nero takes her to H.I.V.E. as he is impressed with the young girl's abilities.  He allows her to practice martial arts on some of his best guards and she takes them down easily.  Nero then tells Raven she is free to leave if she wishes but if she wants, then she can stay. Raven chooses to stay.

The book then moves back to normal time. Otto is launching an attack on a facility along with Raven and H.I.V.E.mind who is in the supercomputer inside his head.

Trivia/News

  • In this book more is revealed of Nero and Raven's past.
  • The book was planned to have been released in February 2013, however Earthfall, another book by Walden, took its place and so it was released on June 6 2013.
